Snomads Ride Leader Guide 2020




           1. This person may or may not be the coordinator. Volunteers
           are invited to lead based on their experience and familiarity
           with territory.
           2. Takes a head count for a continuous monitoring of the
           group.
           Leader waits at various turns, intersections, and roads to
           insure all are OK before continuing. These checks should not
           exceed 10 miles between stops.
           3. Safety achieved by leader example. Riding at a safe and
           reasonable speed as required by his type of group and trial
           conditions. Observe trail consideration for other riders,
           passing or oncoming, and a constant visual of rider behind
           for all riders. If visual of rider is lost, stop at a safe spot and
           wait several minutes. If rider does not return, go back and
           find missing rider to assist however necessary.
           4. Occasional rest and sightseeing stops to do rider checks,
           resting, candy, or whatever the riders may bring.
           5. Leader and sweep may alternate as agreed. Lineup may al-
           so
           be altered because of situation or request.
           6. Suggested that leader and sweep wear our green safety
           vests
           for Snomads group recognition. Carry emergency pack
           within the group.
           7. Maintain a safe and fun atmosphere for all to enjoy.
