After a half hour of playing I continued across the plains with a wrong turn
which took us to a dead-end. There was plenty of room to turn around
however there was plenty more snow here where many a sled got mired in
the powder. After another half hour of several stuck sleds we got into the
woods and made our way up to trail 8. We headed out onto Kingston
plains and I was going to try and get over to Cabin in the Sky however took
a left when I should have taken a right and what do you know, 3 more stuck
sleds. Well, I gave up on that and b-lined back to Franks Knoll – I know ex-
actly where that is! After leaving there we headed out to the bear trap for
lunch then back up trail 8 towards Seney. Had to take one break while
shreds of what used to be a belt was cleaned out of Joes sled and a fresh
brand new one put back on. The way back was otherwise uneventful apart
nd
from meeting the groomer at the 2 new bridge on trail 440.
All told it was a wonderful long weekend with great trails, good food and
meeting new SnomadS as well as reacquainting with some long time friends
(It was great seeing Greg and Sally Whitaker).
My group did 115 miles on Friday, 99 miles on Saturday and 120 on Sunday.
