March 2013 – President’s Message
Due to a misprint on the return address for the bylaws ballots, the deadline to vote has been extended to April 1st. See the ballot and instructions on page 5 of this issue.
The location and menu has been decided for the trails end party to be held on Saturday, April 13th, at Dobski’s Restaurant in Union Lk. See the ad on page 15 of this issue.
This seems to have been a very strange season. No decent riding conditions until well into January. Then the skies opened up. Paradise and Grand Marais haven’t had snow totals like this in a decade.
Even though we had to cancel a few Club rides, the ones that were held were well attended. The Strongs Ride, The Pellston Ride, The Seney/Keweenaw Ride were all close to record attendances.
These rides allowed our more senior members to mix and mingle with a lot of the newer members, and the results were very positive. The newer members got to hear the tales from the “good old days.” And the older members got to meet the future of the Snomads.
I could see it on their faces at the Pellston Ride. Russ Demers, Tom O’Reilly, Chuck Comstock, Bill Green and I all sat back and smiled knowing that the future of the Club is going to be in the hands of people who share our sense of family and tradition.
New members who have the same passion and commitment to the Snomads that we’ve had all these years. My goal as President has always been to grow this organization each year.
I am confident in the knowledge that the goals and aims of the Snomads will be around for a long, long time.
