March 2011 Presidents Message

It always seems to amaze me how short our snowmobile season really is, it was only weeks ago I was commenting of our shakedown ride, now March is around the corner and were nearing the end of our season.

At the beginning of the season the snow gods where not very good to us, several of the clubs rides were canceled due to lack of snow and poor riding conditions. But Snomads are resilient; we were still able to get most of our rides in, many rides took members on long weekends to week long trips. Myself, although I attended several rides this season, it looks like I’ll miss the 2000 mile goal I set at the beginning of the year.
On another note, we have had some good points to be excited about this season. Although we lost ten memberships this year, with our membership drive we were able to gain twenty eight new memberships. By the office count, we now have 128 memberships representing 192 members. This is very positive; we haven’t been at this point in some time now, thanks to all that helped spread the word about our club.
Our safety program is strong again and back on track with seven instructors, the FWO women had a very good season too with their story in the next Snomad. We paid special attention to what I think we can all agree on, giving back to charity, education, and more attention being paid to fund raising this season. This was one of my goals as the new club president; I believe we accomplished this task, and thanks to all who helped with these endeavors. I’m very pleased to report that our club is in a very good financial position, possibly the best it’s seen in years considering our current economic condition.

As you can see, we have a lot to be thankful for this year, we have a strong membership, financially sound club, great rides and events with good traditions that we all can be excited about and proud to be part of the Snomads family.

In closing, I’d like to remind members that our club still has a couple of rides left for this season, for your enjoyment call the ride coordinators and get on board. This year’s trails end banquet will be held at Santia hall on April 16. Advanced tickets may be purchased though our club office. We’re offering the opportunity for members to get a 40% discount on Klim wear which was mentioned in the last Snomad, Ron Schroeder is heading up this program. I encourage members to contact Ron soon as possible for more details.
There’s still time to get out and take advantage of the limited season left, so get out there and please be safe, and keep the track side down.
