The November Kick-off party had a great turn out

In mid-September the club generally sends out the membership forms for
the upcoming season, this also includes the Kickoff Party information. The
Kickoff party is always following the weekend after the Novi Snow Show,
so everyone has time to check their schedule and make their plans for the
party. By mid-October I was beginning to receive the forms that I had sent
out, and the count for the Kickoff Party remained very low. When I began
to in-put the member information, I realized that many of the forms were
from members from Ohio, Indiana, and northern Michigan. When Chuck
Comstock called me in late October on the head count for the party, I had
           only received 28 conformations.

With this low of a count, we fell far short of reserving one of the main
halls, and if we were to move over to the restaurant, we felt it would be
too small for the gifts, and for the comedian to do his act. With only a
little more than a week before the party, the membership forms arrived
in the mail, and most of them included tickets for the Kick-off party. By
the cut-off date, we were able to reserve the large room, and we needed
dinner for 68 people. This included four from Novi, and four people who
           became SnomadS that night.
The day of the party Paul Reed, and I began checking people in at the
front table, we only had a couple of people who did not make the event.
As everyone settled in for the evening, the air filled with conversations of
greetings, snowmobiling, which trips, and some continuations of things
they were discussing last time they were together. The warm-up event
was a huge success, and the appetizers weren’t bad either.
After the completion of the dinner Merle Fitch began the nights events
with discussion of the membership dues. The board was asking the mem-
bership for permission for a five dollar increase for next years dues, and
the response was very positive. (Thank-You) Everything that was over the
$25.00 dollar membership fee that was sent in, will be donated to our
           charity events.
