I purchased more than a few sleds from provided some ball caps and a
couple pair of gloves for door prizes. Bill became our second Honorary
Snomads Member.
Members wanted to get club patches and pins. These items were ob-
tained from Perfection Monogramming, and the practice of giving out
event patches for participation in club rides began. As the Snomads
Snofari Club became better know in snowmobiling circles, their mem-
bership began to grow by leaps and bounds. The club attended the 1987
MSA Convention, held in Flint that October, and met the proprietor of
Perfection Monogramming, Niki Israels and her husband, Dale. The Is-
reals began supplying the club with shirts, jackets as well as the patches.
Niki and Dale (MSA Secretary) became the Snomads third Honorary
Members.
Jim concluded "...by the spring of 1988, our membership had grown to
about 25 Active and 20 Associate members. I initiated the clubs' "go to"
list of dealers, manufacture reps, as well as other donor groups. We had
over three thousand dollars in merchandise for door prizes and raffles at
our annual meeting, now held on the first weekend in November at the
Green Parrot Restaurant & Lounge in Pontiac. Our treasury was now ca-
pable of taking care of the expenses we incurred and we still had more
than we needed left over. The Board of Directors voted to keep just
enough funds in the treasury for known expenses and the rest was do-
nated to charities selected by the general membership. I had become
active in the M.S.A. as a director-at-large for Southeastern Michigan and
the Snomads Snofari Club was firmly cemented on the map."
Future installments will include the continued development of
the club, the snowmobile sleds of choice when it all started and stories
from the trails. I can hardly wait! Meantime, here is a question for you to
ponder "...who was the second President of the Snomads?
