October 2012 – Presidents Message

Happy October everyone. This is a very exciting time of year for all of us sledheads. We’re busy cleaning and replacing things in preparation for the upcoming snowmobile season which by all accounts promises to be a record year for snow. It’s also a very exciting time for us as Snomads. In less than three weeks, we will be at the Novi Snow Show. Of course we’ll all be shopping, but in addition, we will be making our presence known as one of, if not the, premiere snowmobile Club in Michigan.

Beginning on Friday evening, November 2nd we will be selling trail permits and promoting the Club at our booth inside the show. This year we will be taking advantage of our booth space to not only sell trail permits as a fundraiser, but we will be in the business of selling the Snomads. We feel we have a product that the snowmobiling community at large has a need for. There are a lot of riders and families out there that have lost their riding partners due to the economy and other factors. We need to take advantage of this and offer the Snomad experience to these folks. In addition to them getting the benefits of the Snomad experience, we in turn will gain new perspectives, contacts and ideas which will only make us grow as an organization. If you are a passionate member and will be attending the Novi Show anyway, and would like to help out at the booth, call James Jetke at 586-909-8697 to volunteer to work a short block of time on our behalf.

On Saturday morning, we will be once again holding one of the largest one day snowmobile safety classes in the state. Safety committee chairman John Newman and a host of instructors will spend the entire day educating up to 150 students. An undertaking of this size requires a lot of help and patience. Our list of MDNR certified instructors is slowly dwindling down. If you would like to see how it’s done and witness how gratifying and rewarding it is to pass this valuable information on to the next generation of snowmobilers, call John Newman at 586-648-6675.

As I stated earlier, this is a very exciting time for the SnomadS. As a Board, we have made several changes and continue to evolve in order to keep up with current technology available to us and to make us more attractive to prospective members. The vast majority of snowmobile clubs, by their nature tend to cater to their local areas. We are in a unique situation, as we do not offer a physical clubhouse, but use our website and message board as a place for all members to communicate and share experiences. That’s why we feel we have a lot to offer families or individuals looking to ride. And when you break it all down, isn’t that what we all want to do? We just want to ride and have fun!

So come to Novi on November 2-4 and help to promote the SnomadS, and we look forward seeing everyone at the SnomadS Season Kick Off Party November 10th, at Santia Hall in Keego Harbor.
