October 2010 – Presidents Message

Well, as the weeks have past since our annual general membership meeting in September, I’m still overwhelmed being elected as our clubs sixth president. It’s an honor and privilege to be elected by YOU the general membership. One can only hope he can up hold the aims and goals of our founding club members, and its past presidents. There are so many things that need to be done, my head is still spinning with all the thoughts, and ideas I like to bring to the table. But there is only so much one can due at one giving time.

With your help, and a strong united board of directors we can accomplish our aims, and goals. Many thanks, and gratitude needs to be give to outgoing president Bill Chatfield for the time and energy he has put into our club the last ten years while serving on the board of directors. His dedication, intelligence, and colorful personality will be greatly missed. Knowing Bill he’ll continue to have his hand in things. There was a change at one of our trustee position also. John Newman was elected for a new two year term. I welcome John as many of you know; we look forward to working with him and others for the new changes we envision. Outgoing trustee Merle Fitch has served our club well during his term, many thanks to you and your wife for all you have done. Merle has assured me he’s going nowhere. He and his family will be there to help our club advance in a positive direction as needed.

As I sit at the kitchen table writing my first letter as your president, looking outside 47 degrees, the leaves are falling off the trees, colors are starting to peak, and my thoughts are turning to the up coming season we all anticipate. We have a busy month ahead of us. Novi Snow Show will be held on the weekend of November 5th, 6th, and 7th. We will need volunteers to help promote our club, and sell trail permits as in the past. This is one of our clubs biggest fund raisers. If you have time to give please call me as I will be chairing this event, also mark your calendars for November 13th the official start of the season, kick-off party. This is a must if you never have attended. If this party doesn’t get you ready, nothing will. This will give me and others on the board an opportunity to talk more with the membership, and meet those that are new to the club.

Id like to touch on your membership packets you should have received by now from the club office. In it, you will fine your renewal membership dues, raffle tickets, and the Ski Doo promotional card. I’m encouraging each member to buy one MSA booklet of raffle tickets, and PLEASE fill out one Ski Doo form and take that to your local Ski Doo dealer. If each one of our members has the resources and time to accomplish this, our club would receive $16.00 dollars for each member. Multiply that by 114 paid memberships, as you can see, that’s allot of coin that can be raised to help off set our clubs operating expenses. Please help! If you have any question don’t hesitate to call the clubs office.

In closing, as your new president one of my first tasks is to open the door for better communication between you, the board and its standing committees. Don’t be surprised if your phone rings and it’s me calling to say Hi, Ta pick your brain, about all these ideas I have pin-up inside. As you know I’m not one for much talk… Lol
