November 2010 – Presidents Message

Ok then, I’ve completed the preseason check list, greased both front and rear suspensions, topped off all the fluids, and warmed up the engine. The only thing left now is to sit back and wait for the weather get cold and the first flakes to fall. With the Shakedown ride just weeks away, many of us are turning our attention to our favorite weather sites. For me, this is the hardest time of the year, waiting for December 1st. At times, I feel like an impatient little boy.

For this season John Dee’s web site is calling for a wetter than normal winter, I Hope he’s correct. After last year’s disappointing winter, I have a lot of make up riding to do. My goal is 2,000 miles this year, that’s if my old XC-600 holds up. What am I thinking? Polaris’s all last for at least 12,000 miles. Lol

This past month the board has been very busy preparing for the Novi Snow Show, Safety Classes, along with a new Membership Drive. For the upcoming season the ride coordinators have put together a very impressive list of events for the 2010/11 riding season. We have thirteen rides which range from Snofari riding, Saddle bagging to boondocking, and always we’ll have the weekend round robins. There’s something for everyone each week. Our ride coordinators have put a lot of time in planning these events, I ask members to look over the rides, and make your reservation early. We also ask you to call the ride coordinator after making your reservations to corroborate the ride. Coordinators are always looking for assistance on their rides, and yes they love when we ask if we can assist them with anything on their ride. I encourage everyone to step up and offer your hand, volunteering your services gives you a chance to get involved and helps the rides go more smoothly.

In closing, as I sit here waiting for the temps to drop, I envision riding with all my fellow Snomads in the coming months, and to welcome all the new members to our club. Welcome to your new family!
