Snowmobile Memories
My wife asked me the other day, how many more years
do you plan on snowmobiling? I told her as long as I can, I
have no intentions on stopping now, I just retired. Her ques-
tion made me think (how many years have I been snowmo-
biling)? I poured myself a coffee and the snowmobile memo-
ries came back to me as it was yesterday. In December in
1968 while riding the school bus, I remember my friend Bob
Mackie had a Popular Mechanics Magazine, it was full of
1969 snowmobile review. I looked through the magazine the
entire ride to school. From that moment, I knew I wanted to
snowmobile, I was hooked. Later that week while shopping
with my mon at K-Mart, I found that Popular Mechanics and
ask her to buy it for me. It was only 35 cents. I read every
page over and over again, back then there were over 100
manufactures producing sleds. One day my mother stop at a
lawn mower shop to purchasing a part for my dad, I noticed
the other show room was full of Ski-doo Snowmobiles. I re-
member a Nordic one ski sled, and a Olympic. I looked at
those sleds, it seemed like an hour. I told my mother, this is
