MISORVA Minute
To say 2020 has been a weird year is a serious understatement it
has been downright crazy. The DNR is not releasing funds for the ORV pro-
gram as they normally would this year based on the Governor's Execu-
tive orders which have recently been overturned. We at MISORVA have
been working to get funding released for both the snowmobile and
ORV program.
We are currently in the process of working with several legislators and the
DNR to ban wheeled vehicles on marked groomed snowmobile trails when
they are being groomed. The clubs must sign a contract with the DNR guar-
anteeing smooth trails. This is a hazard to both sleders and the groomers
that are out on the trial.
I am happy to announce that AFTER 20 years, the temporary Doty bridge
over the North branch of the Strutts River bridge has finally being replaced.
Work started several months ago and will be finished hopefully within the
next few weeks. This is the bridge on trial 8 between Shingleton and
Wetmore.
Mary and I were just up in Grand Marais working on the trails. In speaking
with many business owners, they are reporting their best season in years.
Many restaurants were closed or at half capacity and motels were full.
With the border to Canada being closed I would make my room reserva-
tions as early as possible.
There was a SAW (Snowmobile Advisory Workgroup) microsoft teams
meeting today that was very productive. Many clubs are getting ready for
the season and could use extra help. Please volunteer there no
trails without clubs.
Many plans are in motion to make this the best season it can be. Hope to
see everyone in the snow.
