To STUD or NOT ? (version 2015)

Picked up a 2015 SKI DOO BACKCOUNTRY 600. Has 1.75 paddle type track. SKI DOO ,Woodys ,etc. do not recommend to stud. However, woodys does make a 1.88 stud. which DEE'S Marine says they install in many Backcountrys they sell. (no warranty) but few if any issues. I know most off trail guys don't run ...

shop manuals

Anyone looking for complete shop manuals the are available to download at http://www.techsparkstudio.com . For some reason they don't have Polaris. Guess they figure they are to simple to need one. (I know, they "never break down" yel ) . pricing seems very reasonable.

Re: Short track or long track

I would think the El Tigre 600 would be a fine trail sled. If your talking on trail the 141 is unnecessary, except as "backup " for your 141. (you are talking artic cat.....). Although the 600 is a first year motor (again, arctic cat) did you consider the 7000 with the Excellent Yamaha 3 c...

Re: Starter Motor

Agree with Vitarious, you should remove the wire(s) going to starter. Although I'm not familiar with this sled most likely just a cable back to a solenoid. As far as removing battery , probably could do it, but I would check with dealer to be sure charging system will be o.k. good luck!

Re: Agree or Disagree?

In my experience , it seems best to run on the loose side of factory spec's. Track length/lug height ,#studs, clearance issues all factor in. The "ballooning" is usually only an issue at high speeds - 70-80, much more then a responsible rider would ever do..... ......btw, whats 5 co...

Re: Installing Studs

Unless you're removing the track for some other reason, you can install studs on the sled fairly easily.
However, installing stubs on the floor, I'm not so sure about........ :|

Re: To Stud or Not to Stud?

If you go to the http://www.woodystraction.com web site they recommend 162 1.450 studs as an "intermediate" set up. A graphic is also shown, 3 studs per bar in single or single /double backer patterns. Having done a few, I highly recommend the proper hole cutter drill (keep it sharp!) &...
